12 Sep Operation Hydration 2017
Well, with all the craziness of the last few weeks, we haven’t had a chance to fully tally the contributions to the Operation Hydration Water Drive we ran through August to benefit the Phoenix Public Mission.
Before I reveal the big total, let’s review what was going on here!
In 2015, there were over 25,000 homeless in Maricopa County.
40% were families.
Last year we donated 12 pallets of water, for over 600 cases. That is more than $1700 in contributions!
It was incredible! Then, after the drive was completed, we went down to the shelter on a hot day in July to distribute cold water, ourselves. It was truly a humbling experience.
The shelters get very full that time of year, and to have been surrounded by so many people in need was a stark contrast to our usual days. What’s more, is with every bottle we handed out, we were thanked, blessed, and thanked again. The kindness and togetherness the homeless in Downtown Phoenix showed us that day will stay with us forever.
This year, we fought so hard to get the word out about Operation Hydration. Today, we are so proud to say that, from so many generous contributions…
We have raised over $2,700!!!
That’s more than 18 pallets of water. That’s 900 cases.
That is 36,000 bottles of water!
These contributions will of course provide much needed water to those most vulnerable during the hottest months of the year. But in addition to that, through the Phoenix Rescue Mission, these donations will also support shelter, medical care, meals, and more.
