Townhouse on Turney: Before & Afters

Townhouse on Turney: A Phoenix Remodel

It’s not hard to see why Arcadia is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Phoenix. From the quiet neighborhood streets, to the gorgeous ranch-style homes and million-dollar mansions, to the mature trees and large irrigated lots, this neighborhood in Phoenix is simply idyllic. Not to mention, some of the valley’s hottest restaurants and bars are scattered throughout, making this perfect for those wanting high walkability.

True Arcadia is defined as east of 44th Street, but the desirability to be in the area seems to stretch these boundaries nearly into the Biltmore area. When we found this townhouse project on 40th street and Turney, just a few streets down from true Arcadia, we knew that it would be a hit!

The location of this townhouse is fantastic. You could walk to Postino for a glass of wine, or across the street to Ingo’s for a burger. Chelsea’s Kitchen is just up the road. We thought that whoever bought the Townhouse on Turney would definitely need a cruising bike for Sunday rides along the canal!

For this Phoenix remodel, we went with cool grays, plenty of tile accents, and touches of rustic wood to keep the home warm. Overall, we knew this home needed to hit the market with lots of style and special touches for it to be worthy of one of the hottest neighborhoods in town.

Because of a number of factors, mostly including the timing of the holidays, the selling process for this project was a bit more difficult than we had hoped. But, we closed on this Townhouse on Turney knowing that it was one of our finest products. We are so proud to see this Phoenix remodel go!

Living

Because the living area is the first thing guests will see when they enter the home, we wanted to make the space look bright and welcoming. We added LED canned lighting throughout, and opened up the wall to the kitchen to create more flow between the living and dining areas.

Dining & Kitchen

The kitchen was small and closed off by a wall, except for a tiny little “peek-a-boo” space. We definitely got a kick out of those original teal kitchen appliances! (If only they were functional. Sigh.) Though we couldn’t completely bring the wall down (supporting walls: hate to love em’!), we opened up a passthrough as large as we could. We then extended a giant slab of marble out several inches to create a seated bar area that was as functional as it was pretty!

New cabinets followed, and stainless steel appliances, as well. The real showstopper here is the  barnwood accent wall. Our friends at Porter Barn Wood in Downtown Phoenix hooked us up with these beautiful pieces of their special Tobacco Barn Grey barnwood. I bet you can’t find the secret storage door that Bryce designed to blend right in!

Baths

There is one full bath on each level, that got similar make-overs. We believe that bathrooms should be your own little spa, so we always go all-out here.  The Townhouse on Turney got custom crafted steel vanities that were SO cool. We loved adding these pretty wall-mounted faucets, and the tile accents on the flooring were so fun (if only a pain to install!).

Bedrooms

Upstairs were two large bedrooms, one as a designated master. We loved this layout, imagining that one could be an office with these amazing mountain views. Each room got a good clean-up, with new carpet, added lighting, and a fresh coat of soothing grey. Unfortunately, we’ve only got “after” photos for these, but that’s where all the real fun is anyway, isn’t it?

Not all of our projects sell in just days — or even on the first try! After all, nothing is certain in real estate until you’re cashing the check. Through the holiday season, two different buyers, and a handful of other speed bumps along the way, we were so grateful to have such an awesome team around us along the way. Adios, Townhouse on Turney!
